There are several areas in Immigration Law that Ms. Laffoon specializes in. She has made it her mission and her priority will always be to maintain family unity and reunification through United States Citizenship and Immigration Services and the Immigration Courts throughout the country.
Asylum
Are you or a loved one living in fear of being tortured or possibly killed if you go back to your original country? Often people are badly hurt by their religious or political beliefs, and they ask for Asylum either at the border or when they have already entered the United States. This process is very long and could get very difficult if done on your own. Ms. Laffoon has worked on many Asylum cases throughout the years and is an expert on even the most difficult cases.
Removal and Deportation Defense
Family members are being detained in detention facilities all around the United States. This is a difficult subject for many families that have experienced a traumatic event due to these centers. Ms. Laffoon has traveled to the borders and other detention facilities all over the country to help reunite families that have been detained.

A Green Card (also known as a Permanent Resident Card) allows you to live and work permanently in the United States. There are different steps you must take depending on your situation.
Special Immigrant Juvenile for
Unaccompanied Minor(s)
Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) is a way for minors who entered the United States without a parent and are currently in the United States to adjust their status. If they have been abused abandoned or neglected by one or both of their parents a minor may qualify for SIJ, the process can be complicated and is best to get assistance from an attorney. Lucy Laffoon has helped many unaccompanied juveniles looking to adjust their status and build a better future for themselves in the United States.
U-Visa/T-Visa for Victims of Crimes
Victims of certain serious crimes to cooperate with law enforcement officials who are prosecuting criminal offenders.
Waivers
If you or your spouse has entered the U.S. without permission or overstayed their visa, they may qualify for a waiver. In order to navigate this complex process it is important to consult with an attorney. Ms. Laffoon will be able to assist you is answering all of your questions in order to start the process and accomplish the outcome of keeping your family member or you from having to stay out of the U.S. to adjust status.
Defferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA)
You may request DACA if you:
- Were under the age of 31 as of June 15, 2012;
- Came to the United States before reaching your 16th birthday;
- Have continuously resided in the United States since June 15, 2007, up to the present time;
- Were physically present in the United States on June 15, 2012, and at the time of making your request for consideration of deferred action with USCIS;
- Had no lawful status on June 15, 2012, meaning that:
a. You never had a lawful immigration status on or before June 15 2012
b. Any lawful immigration status or parole that you obtained prior to June 15, 2012, had expired as of June 15, 2012 - Are currently in school, have graduated or obtained a certificate of completion from high school, have obtained a general education development (GED) certificate, or are an honorably discharged veteran of the Coast Guard or Armed Forces of the United States; and
- Have not been convicted of a felony, significant misdemeanour, or three or more other misdemeanours, and do not otherwise pose a threat to national security or public safety.
